Junior Mechanical Engineer
Job purpose
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for working with the DWE Engineering team and all departments to develop new products and manufacturing processes. The Mechanical Engineer will utilize CAD software to create 3D models of components, assemblies, and manufacturing fixtures. The role will also require duties in the engineering lab to test products in support of customer and product development deliverables. The Mechanical Engineer also provides appropriate documentation and technical advice to both shop floor personnel and customers to ensure that each product meets customer quality and delivery requirements.
Duties and responsibilities
Work with Program Managers to develop designs for new business contracts
Identify cost-effective solutions to design challenges
Create 3D models, manufacturing drawings, BOM’s and engineering documentation.
Assist in creating and presenting technical reports regarding status and results of design or study assignments
Complete projects within assigned time frame.
Prepare estimates of development costs
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Associates degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong ability to interpret technical drawings (e.g. blueprints)
Minimum of 2 years experience creating 3D models and 2D drawing
Self-motivated and capable of managing own workload of multiple tasks
Strong commitment to safety

The Mechanical Engineer operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and fax machines. This position frequently works on the manufacturing floor. Incumbent should abide by all safety regulations.
