Quality Assurance Manager

The Quality Assurance Manager leads the Quality team to ensure that the products and services that DWE provides are compliant to print specifications and meets both external and internal customer, technical, regulatory, and business requirements.  The Quality Assurance Manager represents the voice of the customer and brings focus by monitoring and evaluating the performance of the quality management system and drives actions with cross-functional teams to design, develop, troubleshoot, and verify processes are capable and controlled to attain customer and business results. The Quality Assurance Manager will:

  • Maintain and improve the Quality Management System to support the company’s ISO 9001:2015 certification.

  • Maintain DWE’s NIOSH Certification for the Escape Breathing Apparatus (EBA)

  • Have the ability to acquire and maintain NIOSH or other certifications (such as Intrinsic Safety) for new DWE products.

  • Participate as a key leader in DWE’s LEAN Manufacturing journey. Incorporate LEAN activities and principles as appropriate to the organization.

  • Organize the Quality team efficiently to cover all defined quality requirements specifically but not limited to incoming, in-process, and final inspection

  • Work closely with the Engineering, Assembly and Molding departments to ensure requirements are understood and met during new product development and mature production

  • Professionally and politely handle all customer and regulatory audits

  • Establish and monitor customer satisfaction metrics and drive programs with Department Managers for system upgrades and continuous improvement.  Report metrics and actions to upper management.

  • Develop close relationships with customers and suppliers in preparation for inevitable problem-solving activities.  Professionally and politely handle all customer complaints in a timely manner.

  • Lead and support successful execution of product launches and change management

  • Generate control plans as needed for specific jobs and sit in on PFMEA discussions

  • Develop and implement effective statistical process control programs where appropriate

  • Drive supplier management procedures to align supplier quality performance to DWE business and customer expectations.

  • Manage metrology lab

  • Spearhead company Safety initiative including developing Safety manual, checklists and procedures.

Requirements Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical and/or manufacturing related field required

  • 5-10 years of Quality Manager experience

  • Excellent communicator both oral and written

  • Exhibits logical, step-by-step thought process

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Windows, ERP knowledge & internet-based customer portals

  • Ability to manage talent from skills assessment, development, and accountability

  • Experience in blueprint reading and interpretation, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

  • Demonstrate ability to investigate quality problems, working with Engineering and Production to apply sound technical knowledge to develop possible solutions

  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and communicate in a professional manner

  • Demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate, and facilitate in group situation, including crisis management

  • Experience in LEAN manufacturing preferred

  • NIOSH experience preferred
